A Note From the Queen

Dear Subscriber,

The other day I was, leaving work to get my son to an appointment. I was in a rush. Cory said, Mom, you seem a little stressed. I said, "yes, I am." I didn't realize that I was, I thought to myself. He replied, "Well," with caring in his voice, "could you let it go?" I said, yes, "I can let it go!" So immediately, I changed my mind. I let the stress go! I felt so much better. This is what we do in our family, we tell each other what we are sensing and feeling about the other person. Because we can all get caught in our negative patterns. I felt so grateful, I thanked my Son for taking care of himself and his Mom.

Classes

Girlfriends all need support in one way or another. We love to talk, share, and help each other. This is what makes us feel strong, independent, and confident. This is where I am going to post classes, and support groups. Let me know the kinds of classes or support groups you are interested in. For example: Learning Feng Shui, relationships, family, career, beauty, diet, healthy cooking, eating raw, wine tasting, to name a few. The sky is the limit; we can have anything we want. When you email me your ideas each of you will receive $10.00 any of our one hour services. healthqueen@fountainofhealth.com

I've Got The Power

Being married has taught me to look at myself and to realize my actions not only affect me, but someone I love. I remember Tye and me driving to Carmel for some time alone. He was in the far left lane and he was to get off at the next exit. In my opinion, he had plenty of time to move over and make the exit. He did not get off at the exit. I knew I could have made the exit. We had to drive an extra five miles out of the way, a whole ten minutes longer than needed to reach our destination. I, on my righteous pedestal, proceeded to tell him he could have made the exit. I repeated in my head again and again, he could have, he could have, he could have. I was completely pissed. What is with him? I proceeded to name calling. I don't remember what I said, but I know it was most likely something that was meant to emasculate him.

After I had said this, I heard this voice in my head saying, "You are shooting yourself in the foot." The voice continued, "You are attacking your husband, the man you love, in order to make him less than adequate." "For what reason, are you doing this?" I saw the light. I could now feel his pain along with my own. I did answer the question as to why I was doing that and I answered, because I am feeling inadequate, I don't deserve to be happy. I don't deserve to have it all, and have a wonderful time on this trip with my husband.

Being the powerful person that I am, and realizing that I am in control of my life, and the consequences of my actions, I can change my thinking! I apologized right then, and there. I said, "Honey, I think you are an excellent driver." "Thank you for being so safe and courteous to others. I learn so much from you. I am so grateful that you are my husband." Now the stage was set for a fabulous weekend.

I can't just act any way I want. I am responsible for myself. I am responsible for the way I treat those I hold dear and close to my heart. I realize I can't say things without thinking, this has given me peace. I get angry, allow my buttons to be pushed, say things that I don't mean only because I allow myself to be out of control. I fear that I am not loved or capable of being loved. These feelings and emotions are brought to the surface because I have opened my heart and connected to those I love.

I HAVE A LITTLE TRICK! When I know my emotions are being triggered by a situation that I perceive as negative situation, I breathe. I give my self time to disengage and detach from the negative situation. I choose to not react in a negative manner, but to take a positive action and take care of myself. If I am having a heated discussion, I choose to stop and not argue. When I continue to argue, I usually end up feeling empty. I choose to consciously stop arguing. I take the time to work through my feelings. I listen and then I ask, what is the truth about all this?

After I have taken this time to focus and reflect, I can see what the truth is about the particular situation that had once been upsetting. I am able then to discuss and pinpoint what is real and true about my feelings and the situation. My rule is I refuse to get into the ring and fight. I will not allow my inner child to get hurt. I choose not to hurt the other person as well.

Did you know that 89% of the time you can't remember what you even fought about. In my opinion, arguing is a waste of time, and time is too precious to waste.

Am I eating too much protein?

We only utilize thirty grams of protein at one time. One ounce of protein equals seven grams of protein. In one meal, you should not eat more than four ounces of protein. Four ounces of protein is the equivalent to the thickness and size of a small deck of cards. If we eat too much protein at one sitting, the body cannot digest it. The lack of digested protein is what can cause free radicals in the blood, swollen joints and muscles. The undigested proteins cannot be digested in the blood. The body is always trying to get rid of undigested proteins. They do not belong in the blood stream, floating around and causing problems. This can cause you immune system to be on over drive. Your immune system cannot fight off invaders with much efficiency. Protein is important. It is what makes up everything in our bodies, but bone. I like taking three to four ounces of protein and mixing it into a salad. Examples of healthy salad fixings are; lettuce, broccoli, rice, grilled onions, roasted squash, corn, green beans, asparagus, peaches, apples, and grapes. I am creative. I enjoy mixing a variety of items together with some salad dressing. Lots of vegetables and a little protein, in my opinion, will stave off swollen joints and muscles. Just look in the refrigerator and have fun.

Creating a Happy Environment - Part 2

As you remember, last month, I wrote about when I first started coaching Sue. She wasn't sure she wanted to stay with her husband. There were just so many things she didn't like about him. I gave her a challenge of finding five things each day that she liked about him. These things could be anything. It could be his smile or the nice way he tied his shoelaces. Be sincere, find anything, something, but tell him the good things about himself.

Well, this is the rest of the story:

Dear Dawn:
I wanted to email you and thank you for all the help and encouragement and advice that you have offered me through the last three months. Your warmth and enthusiasm have really made all the difference as I have struggled through my personal growth, coming to understand what it is I want and how to achieve that. I really feel that you gave me the tools to work through the difficult times, honor myself and speak my true feelings. This has made such a difference in my life. I feel stronger and more hopeful than I ever have. I am ready and able to put all the advice and help you have given me to good use. I am working out the details with my husband, we plan to buy a house and move back in together. Although I face that prospect with a bit of trepidation, I am also excited and very happy. I don't think I could have gotten this far without your guidance, and for that I am truly grateful. You gave me a wonderful gift....the ability to feel what I want and act on it! Very Truly Yours, Sue

I want to thank all the girlfriends who wrote back accepting the "Are you Woman Enough" Challenge. The one where you committed to telling the people close to you five wonderful things about them each day. Write me to let me know how it went.healthqueen@fountainofhealth.com

The Health Queen and Girlfriends Recommend

Golden Flax Seeds
One tablespoon of ground flax seed is equal to four grams of fiber. Flax has this slippery element to it. The element moistens your colon unlike other fibers, like bran that can dry your colon. Flax seeds also have lignin's which are a form of fiber that gets into our blood and cleans it as well. It is said to be an anti-cancer agent. A coffee grinder works great for grinding the flax seeds. Don't buy them already ground because the oil in the flax will go rancid quickly. If you grind more than you plan to use, just put them in the refrigerator for the next time. Ground flax seeds will keep for a week
