A Note From the Queen

Dear Subscriber,

Woman Should Be Friends

My husband and I have this on going agreement between us, he will watch what I want to watch and then I have to watch what he wants. Do I sound like I don't like watching his programs? I don't! I like murder mysteries, Discovery Channel, History Channel, AMC, Encore, and Foreign Films. He likes teenybopper movies or unrealistic love stories. The one channel we do agree on in is the Sci-Fi channel. The one show we agree on is Stargate.

Last night was my payback, I had to watch "The Bachelor." As I am watching the show I notice my emotions are being stirred inside me. I am feeling irritated and angry. I know these girls are young. But, Please! What is happening to our young women? They have not been taught the most important guarantee to a life of happiness. What haven't their mothers been teaching them? When I heard the one girl who was the second grade school teacher say, she "didn't care what the other girls thought of her," she wanted Bachelor Bob, and she was "going to do what ever it took to get him".

I felt angry and betrayed. I thought to myself, she doesn't get it! Woman friends are to be cherished. Women are the ones who will listen to our woes, not judge us, and always be there believing in us. Women will give honest, unbiased advice and will make the weight of life easier to carry. If we don't have our girlfriends, I feel we can become negative, bitter, self-righteous, arrogant, emotionally unbalanced and depressed.

I know this Bachelor Bob thing is a competition and the winner gets "Bob". I know all of these girls just meet each other and they haven't developed a bond between them. But wouldn't the experience of developing close friendships with women far out way the winning of one man?

Classes

LOOK YOUNGER!

I am Melanie Madsen and I am an Esthetician at the Fountain of Health. I have been practicing for 6 years and went into this field because I suffered with acne as a teen and into my early twenties. I enjoy being able to help people feel better about themselves and be more confident with their appearance.

I have found a wonderful chemical peel company and I am excited to share this information with you. Chemical peels are formulated to enhance skin health and promote better cell renewal. I have attended both a 3 day Advanced Medical Esthetics and an Advanced Chemical Peel class with this company. During these classes I was able to see some amazing results with these peels on such skin conditions as the following: dull/lifeless skin, acne and acne scarring, rosacea, sun damage, enlarged pores, and fine lines. These peels are non-traumatic, natural, and effective.

I am holding a class on Monday October 13th at 7:00pm at the Fountain of Health. 2820 "T" Street. Sacramento

The class will allow me to give you more details regarding the peels, answer any questions, give each individual an analysis of their skin, and design a peel program based on that individual.

Class size is limited, so please call by Saturday October 11th to reserve your space.

Please call us at 916-456-4600 and leave your name and phone number. We will call and confirm your space. I look forward to seeing you there.

Aspartame Is It Worth It?

I didn't realize how often clients are consuming diet products. I felt I needed to get this information out about Aspartame.

Aspartame is the technical name for the brand names NutraSweet and Equal.
Aspartame was discovered by accident in 1965 when James Schlatter, a chemist of G.D. Searle Company, was testing an anti-ulcer drug. Aspartame was approved for dry goods in 1981 and for carbonated beverages in 1983.

Other toxic substances to avoid: Neotame, Sucralose (Splenda), Acesulfame-k (Sunette, Sweet-n-Safe, Sweet One).

Aspartame is by far the most dangerous substance on the market that is added to foods. Aspartame accounts for over 75 percent of the adverse reactions in food additives reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Many of these reactions are very serious including seizures and death. These reactions were recently disclosed in a February 1994 Department of Health and Human Services report. The following is a sample of the ninety different documented symptoms listed in the report as being caused by Aspartame:

Headaches/Migraines, Dizziness
Seizures, Nausea
Numbness, Muscle spasms
Weight gain, Rashes
Depression, Fatigue
Irritability, Tachycardia
Insomnia, Vision problems
Hearing Loss, Heart palpitations
Breathing difficulties, Anxiety attacks
Slurred speech, Loss of taste
Tinnitus, Vertigo
Memory loss, Joint pain

According to researchers and physicians studying the adverse effects of Aspartame, the following chronic illness can be triggered or worsened by ingesting of Aspartame;

Brain tumors, Multiple Sclerosis
Epilepsy, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's
Mental retardation, Lymphoma
Birth defects, Fibromyalgia
Diabetes, Cancer

Aspartame is made up of three chemicals; Aspartic Acid, Phenylalanine, and Methanol. The book, "Prescription for Nutritional Healing: A Practical A-Z Reference to Drug-Free Remedies Using Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs, and Food Supplements (Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 3rd Ed)" by Phyllis Balch, James Balch, lists Aspartame under the category of "chemical poison."

Aspartame and Glutamate act as neurotransmitters in the brain by facilitating the transmission of information from neuron to neuron. Too much Aspartame in the brain kills certain neurons by allowing the influx of too much calcium into the cells. This influx triggers excessive amounts of free radicals which kill the cells. This cell death happens slowly over time before many chronic illnesses are noticed.

Studies have shown that Aspartame can cause the levels of serotonin in the brain to decrease, leading to emotional disorders such as depression, mood swings, and even violent rages. Excessive build up of Aspartame in the brain can cause schizophrenia or make one susceptible to seizures.

Heating Aspartame to temperatures over 86 degrees Fahrenheit such as in sodas and Jell-O, turns Aspartame into Methanol. Methanol breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde in the body. Formaldehyde is a deadly neurotoxin.

The troops of Desert Storm were "treated" to large amounts of Aspartame-sweetened beverages which had been heated to over 86 degrees Fahrenheit in the Saudi Arabian sun. Many of them returned home with numerous disorders similar to what has been seen in persons who have been chemically poisoned by formaldehyde.

Aspartame consumption is not only a problem in the United States. It is being sold in over seventy countries throughout the world.

Aspartame can be found in:
Instant breakfast
Breath mints
Cereals
Sugar-free chewing gums

Coffee beverages
Frozen desserts
Juice beverages
Laxatives
Multi-vitamins
Mild drinks
Pharmaceuticals and supplements

Tea beverages
