In Memory of 9/11
A quote by Gertrude Stein

You have to know what you want to get.
But when you know that. Let it take you.
And if it seems to take you off the track,
don't hold back,
because perhaps that is instinctively where you want to be.
And if you hold back and try to be
always where you have been before.
You will go dry.

A Note From the Queen

Dear Subscriber,

- The Zen of Bike Riding
My family and I wanted to take a bike ride to Old Sacramento. I remembered going bike riding with my family when I was a teenager. The memories were bubbling up inside of me. I developed a longing in my heart to ride again. My daughter was now old enough to go on a long bike ride. However, my old bike was not. My old bike was not able to withstand the shifting pressure of a faster pace.
I had mentioned my feelings to my son and daughter. I informed them that Mommy was going to get a new bike so we could go on longer bike rides. A few weeks passed. Then my husband mentioned, "Honey, you know your birthday is in a couple of weeks, and the kids told me you wanted a new bike." He continued, "We want to buy you a bike for your birthday." After we searched for my perfect bike, I found her. She is white with silver trim.
Last Sunday, my family and I took a ride down the river on the bike trail. We had a wonderful time. I realized what it was that I liked about bike riding. I feel free when I ride. I am alone but connected to those who are with me. I am the master. I am mastering the speed at which I travel. I am the master of my path. I am mastering my destination by the decisions I make. Whomever I ride with are the masters of their own ride. We choose to journey together on our paths. The art of bike riding is parallel to how I live my life.

To Control or Love
My son, Cory, overheard a conversation I had with my Mom. My Mom was complaining that my Dad brought his new girlfriend around our family. She was angry, upset and getting herself into an emotional tither. The next day, Cory asked me what I thought about my Mom's situation. I told him that she was trapped in the belief that something was being taken from her. I explained to him that she feels she is being disrespected. She feels that she is not in control of the situation. He asked, "What did you tell her?" I said, "She wasn't ready to hear the truth yet. She wants to stay in her anger. She is right where she should be because anger is one of the stages of death. She is experiencing the death of her relationship with her former husband." I continued, "She will eventually move on to the next stage," He asked, "If she was ready to move forward, what would you have told her?" I responded, "I would have pointed out the truth. Nothing can be taken away from her. All she will ever need she will find within herself. She will feel trapped when she believes that something is being taken away from her or done to her. She must stop focusing on what her ex-husband has done and focus on herself. What does she want? What makes her happy? What does she like to do? What does she see herself doing tomorrow? Next week? Next month? The more clarity she has, the more she will look forward to her future. When she does this, she is organizing and creating an energetic line from today to the future. Goals may change. What is important is that she is moving forward." Cory said, "Why was she so angry?" I responded, "Because she is afraid. She believes she is unloved and unlovable, and that there must be something wrong with her. These feelings are what motivates her to try to control her ex-husband and the situation."
"This is a great lesson to learn from, Cory. When a person wants to control another person or a situation, they need to ask this question, "What do I want to control?" Then ask, "What am I afraid of?" The need to control means you are fearful. When you are fearful you are experiencing a lot of negative emotions. You feel that you are afraid that you are unloved. You are afraid that you are unlovable. You are afraid that you will be abandoned. You must understand why you are afraid. When you understand why you are afraid, you can ask yourself what is the truth of the situation. The only truth is that you are loved. Look around you, all the evidence is right in front of your eyes. The more she works through these fears, she will become free. She will know that she is loved, safe and secure. That is a wonderful feeling. That is the reason we are here, to learn and know the truth. The truth is we are loved."

YOU DESERVE IT, CHEW IT
The very first and most important part of digestion is chewing your food. You have glands in your mouth that hold saliva. This saliva contains enzymes that help in the digestion of starches and carbohydrates. Your teeth are meant to break down the fiber so the enzymes can liquefy your food. You will get much more energy out of your food without taking a lot of energy to digest it. Most of us are in such a hurry to eat we don't take the time to chew. When you take time to chew the food, you are proving to yourself that you are deserving of enrichment. You are deserving of not only nourishment for your body, but also for your emotional well-being. Not only are you feeding your physical body food, you are also feeding your emotional, mental, and spiritual self as well. Take time to chew, taste, enjoy, savor, and ingest what is rightfully yours, your life.

The Health Queen and Girlfriends Recommend

Eat To Live: The Revolutionary Formula for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss by: Joel Fuhrman.
This book was recommended by one our clients. The client feels this book has a down-to-earth message which all other diets can be judged. It has a proven physiology and bridges the gap between the highly technical world of science and the world of everyday health practices.

I Dare You Ladies to try Bikram Yoga! This ia a 90 minute class in a room heated to approximately 102 degrees. Sounds awful but it is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I am hooked on it! Why?????? Because for the first time since I can remember, I don't have crazy shoulder, neck and lower back pain! It is awesome! You can read more about it on the Website www.bikramyoga.com. I go to the Granite Bay location if anyone needs a friend to go with. My name is Amy 638-2069

Golden Flax Seeds
One tablespoon of ground flax seed is equal to four grams of fiber. Flax has this slippery element to it. The element moistens your colon unlike other fibers, like bran that can dry your colon. Flax seeds also have lignin's which are a form of fiber that gets into our blood and cleans it as well. It is said to be an anti-cancer agent. A coffee grinder works great for grinding the flax seeds. Don't buy them already ground because the oil in the flax will go rancid quickly. If you grind more than you plan to use, just put them in the refrigerator for the next time. Ground flax seeds will keep for a week
