A Note From the Queen
Subscriber, Are you staying dry?
Do you have a boat? Tye, the kids and I went to see how high the Sacramento River was on Sunday. Tye said it ebbed at 27 feet, which is 4 feet from flooding.
This reminds me of a song sung by Johnny Cash.
"How high's the water Momma? She said it's 2 feet high and risen.
We can make it to the road, in a home made boat,
that's all we have left that can float.
It's already gone over the wheat and oats.
It's 2 feet high and risen.
How high's the water Momma? She said it's 3 feet high and risen.
My hives are gone, I've lost my bees.
The chickens are sleepin in the willow trees.
The cows in water up to their knees.
It's 3 feet high and risen.
How high's the water Momma? She said it's 4 feet high and risen.
The waters up to the window pane.
Looks light we're going to be blessed with a little more rain.
The rails are washed out north of town.
We have got to get to higher ground.
We can't come back until the water is down.
It's 4 feet high and risen."
Last month Subscriber told you about her back being in pain and I told her to take Standard Processes "omega-3 fish oil" I told her to take 8. My doctor friend called me and informed me this was to high a dosage. I agree, the reason I told her so much in the beginning was to get the oil into her body. The recommended dose is 2 a day.
Tidbits >From The Staff
From Allison - Front Desk
The first time I heard the word 'colonic' I was in a cute lobby filled with candles, decorative tile sayings, nutritional supplements, and everyone else in my group interview was applying for the receptionist position. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous about my standings in the interview process from that point on. Fortunately, I turned out to be the chosen one.
First things first. I took home every piece of information I could get my hands on about colonics and studied it. I had quite a few questions about colon hydrotherapy. What IS colon hydrotherapy? What are the benefits? Why have I never heard of this before? After I was trained, and felt confident about handling some of my job responsibilities, I was given my first colonic.
>From that day on my eating, drinking, and pooping habits would change forever. I wasn't drinking enough water; I loved coffee, and used to drink maybe four Mountain Dews a day. My colon hydro therapist wasn't thrilled about that diet for some reason...? Now, I am incorporating more water, less coffee, and NO Mountain Dew. I'm also better about eating fruits and veggies, more organic foods, and I allow myself to poop whenever I have to go... Even at my boyfriend's house. And that's a first for me.
I suppose it helps that I work in an environment where pooping is encouraged and respected as a natural, healthy part of caring for your body. I suppose it doesn't hurt to know a few very knowledgeable people I call co-workers either. Bottom line, I love that I am able to learn about health and nutrition options for my body. Oh, and I love having light, fluffy, peanut butter colored poops!
Classes
Girlfriends all need support in one way or another. We love to talk, share, and help each other. This is what makes us feel strong, independent, and confident. This is where I am going to post classes, and support groups. Let me know the kinds of classes or support groups you are interested in. For example: Learning Feng Shui, relationships, family, career, beauty, diet, healthy cooking, eating raw, wine tasting, to name a few. The sky is the limit; we can have anything we want. healthqueen@fountainofhealth.com

Sugar, Sweets, Simple Carbs
OVER-CONSUMPTION CAUSES FATIGUE
"Why I am so tired all the time?" clients ask. I always ask, "How many carbohydrates are you eating?" Sugar consumption itself has become a disease.
Over-consumption can lead to hypoglycemia, diabetes, heart disease, and chronic tiredness. Balancing the blood sugar is an important part of regaining energy and health. Excess sugar consumption is one of the major causes for fatigue. Not only is sugar a major culprit, the consumption of refined carbohydrates, that quickly turn to sugar in our blood, is equally damaging.
Many people actually use sugar as medicine. Sugar tends to change the way the blood-brain barrier selects appropriate amino-acid building blocks of brain chemicals.
Refined carbohydrate consumption increases the level of the amino acid tryptophan, which is the building block of the brain chemical serotonin. Serotonin is a proven tranquilizer. Sugar creates a cycle of craving and bingeing. It is highly addictive.
Blood sugar disorders can cause fatigue and are closely tied to trace mineral status in the body. The average can of soda pop contains eight to nine teaspoons of sugar. If a person drinks a can of pop, the blood is hit with a hefty dose of sugar that is eight to nine times more than that of normal. In response, the body must mobilize large amounts of adrenalin and insulin to clear the sugar from the bloodstream. Repeated day after day, this scenario can lead to significant health problems as well as blood sugar disorders.
SUGAR INTAKE IS AT RECORD HIGHS
Unbelievable as it seems, according to the USDA, in
1989, the average American consumed the following:
- 134 pounds of refined sugar excluding honey
- 365 servings of soda pop (638 cans per year for people aged 12-29)
- 200 sticks of gum
- 22 pounds of candy
- 63 dozen doughnuts
- 60 pounds of cakes and cookies
- 23 gallons of ice cream
SUGAR AND DIET
Poor diet or excess dietary sugar is causing abnormally low levels of glucose in the blood affecting the brain, nerves, digestive system, and muscles. If the body is not receiving proper nutrition, the very fundamental mechanisms of the body begin to crumble.
Sub-optimal food quality begins with the agricultural practices that have been depleting our soil of it's minerals for years. If minerals and nutrients are not present in the soil, then they are also not present in our food supply.
It used to be that we grew our own foods, picked them from the garden, and ate them the very same day. Now we buy foods that have been on a shelf for who knows how long; the vitamins, minerals, and enzymes depleting by the minute. This of course, along with most people's food choices and excess sugar and refined carbohydrate consumption, contributes to depleted immune systems, weak organs and malnutrition.
WHAT SHOULD I EAT
Begin by eating foods that are low on the glycemic index.
Avoid flour and bread, which cause blood sugar to peak faster, sugar and all other refined carbohydrates, including alcohol, and caffeine. Reduce pasteurized dairy foods, fried foods, fast foods, pastries, prepared meats, and hydrogenated fats. Eliminate preserved foods and red meats unless they are range free from your health food store.
Include in the diet as much fiber as possible from fresh vegetables and small amounts of whole grains.
Grain consumption should be minimal. Small amounts of millet, quinoa, aSubscribernth, or wild rice no bigger than the palm of your hand at mealtime is adequate.
Meals should be small and frequent in order to keep blood sugar at a normal level. Protein and fat should be included with each meal.
Whenever possible buy organically grown produce.
Salad and lightly steamed vegetables should be included in at least two of your meals a day. Eating close to the zone diet would be a good building diet to get one on track. It is especially good for people with blood sugar disorders.
Green super foods such as spirulina, barley grass juice, and wheat grass juice are good for between meal snacks as they help to keep the blood sugar level. Super foods described snacks between meals can include nuts and seeds. Parsley, wheatgrass, carrots (small amounts) and celery juices, along with green vegetables build the blood.

GOOD SWEETNERS
STEVIA
Stevia is one of the most health restoring plants on the Earth. What whole leaf Stevia does both inside the body and on the skin is incredible. Native to Paraguay, it is a small green plant bearing leaves which have a delicious and refreshing taste that can be 30 times sweeter than sugar. Besides the intensely sweet glycosides (Steviosides, Rebaudiosides and a Dulcoside), various studies have found the leaf to contain proteins, fibers, carbohydrates, iron, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc, rutin (a flavionoid), true vitamin A, Vitamin C and an oil which contains 53 other constituents. Quality Stevia leaves and whole leaf concentrate are nutritious, natural dietary supplements offering numerous health benefits.
Where else on earth is there a plant like Stevia? The leaves are a delicious and nutritious food, a fantastic no calorie sweetener, an incredible external and internal medicine, and when gently extracted into a water-based concentrate, is wonderful for smoothing wrinkles, softening and beautifying the skin and healing blemishes and sores.
VITAMIN / MINERAL THERAPY
- Chromium is good to take because it enhances the action of insulin.

- Chlorophyll. Chlorella is the world's richest natural source of Chlorophyll.
EXCERCISE THERAPY
Jumping on the trampoline is excellent for cleaning the blood and the lymph systems. It improves circulation and helps to strengthen the immune system. It helps to build endurance and rejuvenates the body
Regular aerobics strengthens the respiratory system.
Aerobic workout with weights also helps to build endurance.
The number and size of blood vessels carrying blood and nutrients to the body tissues increases and nutrition improves.
Stretching reduces physical stress and fatigue.
