Ingredients: 2 cucumbers 1 green apple 1 handful fresh mint 1-3 pinches of sea salt Juice of 1/2 lemon Directions: 1. Peel the cucumbers. 2. Thinly slice the cucumbers and apple -- the thinner the better! 3. Rub the salt into the slices. 4. Finely chop the mint and mix it into the salad. 5. Add the lemon juice and serve garnished with a few whole mint leaves.
Jumped Greens
Preparation time: 5 minutes Cooking time: 8 minutes Yield: 5 servings
Ingredients: 1 bunch mustard greens, broccoli rabe, Swiss chard or spinach 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 teaspoons olive oil pinch of dried red hot pepper flakes a healthy pinch of sea salt or a splash of umeboshi vinegar or lemon juice 1. Wash the greens well. Chop them into bite-sized pieces. 2. You may want to chop the stems thinner and keep them separate. 3. In a large skillet heat olive oil. Add garlic, hot pepper flakes and stems (if desired) and sauté until garlic just begins to turn golden. 4. Add the greens and stir-fry until all the leaves are wilted. 5. Add 1/4 cup water if the pan seems too dry and continue to stir-fry until the greens are done to your liking. 6. Sprinkle with salt, umeboshi vinegar or lemon juice and serve immediately. Variations: Add chopped red pepper at the beginning. Add toasted nuts or seeds at the end. Add 2 cups cooked white beans with a little bit of broth as soon as the greens wilt for a great protein dish.

Practice Love
We can learn a lot from our kids. They are much smarter than we are - they have no baggage. We start out so pure, so innocent, so trusting. Then we get wounded. I was asking a therapist friend for advice the other night. How do I start trusting again? When my father, my former boyfriends, my ex-husband have all lied to me, betraying my trust again and again, how can I learn to trust others and stay open, to find intimacy and true love?
She told me to look to my daughter, who is only 4. She still trusts me completely. This is our agreement: I take care of her needs, and she just loves me unconditionally. So yesterday, when I was feeling sad and sorry for myself, I took her out to a teddy bear factory, and we made each other stuffed animals with our voices inside, speaking messages of love. Of course, the outing didn't quite fit my initial expectations. She started sobbing in line because she wanted to make one for her father, too, and I didn't have enough money for all of us. In hindsight, I should have just let her make one for her dad, but my birthday is this week and I wanted a damn bear for myself to hug. So she cried throughout the store, and we didn't get to make the birth certificates. The clerks tried to console her to no avail, and I didn't explain, just said she felt like crying, I guess. We went for ice cream and she stopped crying when we dressed our bears -- hers in heart pajamas, mine in belly dancing gear. We carried those bears around all day, nurturing them, hugging them, getting plenty of smiles from passers-by not used to seeing a grown woman dragging around a belly-dancing brown bear. But in that nurturing, she found her solace, and in loving her and being present to her needs, I helped heal myself.
A few months back, my Olivia was practicing yoga on her own, creating new poses. I asked her what yoga pose she was doing, and she looked me straight in the eyes and said it wasn't a pose. She was practicing love. "I practice it every day," she said.
We can choose every day to practice love with whomever we share a relationship, not just romantic ones. We can practice love just by smiling at everyone we come in contact with. This, too, is yoga.

Success Stories
My lifestyle has been quite healthy. I don't do drugs, smoke or get drunk and I am very aware of the quality of the food I eat. The thought of getting a colonic absolutely disgusted me and I was highly skeptical. Then I learned about the schedule of a strong, healthy colon - and as healthy as I thought I was, my colon was definitely not functioning up to par. Feeling a need to be "cleaned," I pushed all of my fears and judgments aside and got my first colonic. I was absolutely stunned at the results. Not only do I feel much stronger physiologically - but the place that I feel the most improvement is spiritually! Since I started receiving colonics reguarly, I have been able to out-grow old behavioral patterns and reach my higher self. I truly believe that I have been able to do this because of the removal of old, physical "junk" that used to be in my body. It has absolutely changed my life and fast-forwarded my progress as an evolving human. I am so lucky and feel so light! Jessica Mayer Pro Design Studios San Francisco, CA
