Colon Hydrotherapy is referred to as colon irrigation, colonics, colon therapy or high enemas. Regardless of the name, they all refer to the use of water for internal cleansing of the colon (large intestines), without the use of drugs or chemicals.
Colon Hydrotherapy is a gentle washing of the large intestine using purified water. The client lies on a table and with a colon hydrotherapy machine, water is run very slowly into the colon. When slight pressure builds up in the colon, the water is released. As the water is flowing out through an illuminated glass viewing tube, the abdominal area is thoroughly massaged. This process is repeated during the 30-50 minute long treatment. One session uses approximately two to six liters into and out of the large intestines. To insure maximum sanitation, a disposable speculum, water and waste line are used.
The physical goals of each session are to hydrate the colon thus hydrating the blood and other systems of the body. This removes waste, stimulates peristalsis, rehabilitates the nerves, muscles, glands, circulatory and immune systems that form the components of the digestive system, and to reposition the intestines.
Colon hydrotherapy is a process of removing fecal material from the colon walls and diluting the bacteria and toxic concentrations in the large intestines (the colon). The therapeutic effects are: improved muscle tone, which facilitates peristaltic action and enhances the absorption of nutrients, while minimizing the absorption of toxic waste material.
Having a colonic is an effective way to loosen and clean the turns and bends in the colon. Colon cleansers can't do it alone. The fecal matter will just take the path of least resistance leaving trapped fecal material in the bends and turns of the colon. Doing colon cleansers, proper diet and colonics are optimum for total colon cleansing.

This depends on your colon's health. The condition of your colon depends on diet, stress, years of abuse, and family history. The process takes time, how many colonics to be suggested is something you and your therapist will be in partnership with in your journey to health.A good rule of thumb is to give yourself at least 3 months to make any lasting changes in your body, then add 1 month for every year you have had a colon concern.
Foods that are alive and not processed so your digestive system can heal and absorb the nutrients from food. Foods that are incorrect create disturbance and stress to the digestive system causing improper function and absorption. Eat plenty of vegetables, salads, soups, fruit, whole grains, fiber and pure water (not tap).
Doing a cleanse before a colonic will help the elimination process, as well. Your therapist or nutritionist will be glad to create a plan for you.
